Picture Perfect

This weekend we're getting our engagement pictures taken and I'm pretty happy. Getting a hair cut/minor trim tonight and maybe going out after to buy an outfit for the photos with one of my future sister-in-laws. Since day 1, we've been planning on a spring or summer wedding so I've been thinking of having these neat, outdoor engagement pics done that show the winter atmosphere that embodies the beginning of our engagement. Just yesterday, the Greater Boston area got showered with a good 5 or 6 inches of snow. Driving home from work in my yellow buggy yesterday was definitely slow and cautious, but I love having the world around me be so mellow and white and untouched. Hopefully there will still be a good amount of snow outside this weekend so we can capture some good seasonal shots.

My photographer for this and the wedding will be my talented buddy Lisa of Behind The Glass Photography. She's so happy and easy going and SUPER creative and artsy (without being annoying about it). I'm really excited for what we'll come out of this weekend with! She's suggested a few parks and bridges in Concord and Lexington, and I know I want a few down the path next to the Charles on our home street in Waltham. Kev and I were also thinking of doing some goofy shots in our apartment, since that's where he proposed. I'm planning on using something from this weekends shoot in our save the dates (which we are modeling after these found at WeddingChicks.com). I love the idea of the simple calendar and soft-looking lovey picture of us. But I also would like to make our own postcards and save on buying additional envelopes... We'll see how this idea progresses!

On a side note, I have a date with my Maid of Honor/Best Friend Sammy this Sunday to go visit the ONE David's Bridal in New England that has my dress. It's not a crazy huge, expensive dress but one that I've looking at for the past couple years. I think it's beautiful and simple and I won't feel uncomfortable wearing it, thinking I could have just paid off part of my student loans.

I'd put a picture up on here, but the fiance might check in and I don't want to ruin that little surprise... so INSTEAD I'll post a picture of the shoes I'd like to wear! I think these are just adorable and would look so cute poking out from under a wedding dress!

Back when I started thinking about weddings and bridesmaids and colors, I was set on having each girl wear their own version of a little black dress and then have each one wear their own set of funky, gemstone-colored peep toed heels. It was kind of a play of Carrie's individual bridesmaids dresses in S&TC movie. But since then, I've moved onto more rustic, woodsy color ideas based on deep browns and light pastels.

Anywho, that's it for me for now. Go check out Lisa's Behind the Glass site!! :)
